Adjacent Space is a 501c3 non profit based out of Birmingham, AL whose mission is to promote visual-tactile accessible and equitable spaces for the Deaf, Deafblind and hard of hearing communities. It is supported by 100% grass roots, volunteer based work. Elevating the rights of these communities is done through advocating of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) through use of open captioning, American Sign Language Interpreters and other visual-tactile tools. Currently public spaces continue to oppress and disenfranchise the rights of our Deaf community to live an equal and successful life. Through proactive approaches the goal is to lessen the reactive nature of the post-discrimination tug of war and reshape how culture interacts with our Deaf community members.
Each tee was designed and created in partnership by Adjacent Space, Live Dreams owner Beth Jenkins, but also the talents of Deaf Alabama artist Kimberly Thornsberry on select designs. Proceeds funds the mission of Adjacent Space. Products designed by Kim Thornsberry, half of proceeds will be given to the artist.
